I am pleased to announce that the Voices of the Valley will be creating a third edition for the 2015-2016 year and will be featured at the 2016 Writer’s Conference. We are all excited to have the opportunity to have another edition to be published and featured at the Writer’s Conference.
This year’s theme is focused on ecological narratives, sense of place, and environmental writing. We are looking for writers to spend time with and interview residents of North Dakota who exemplify diverse and interesting relationships of the land. Some examples of residents already interviewed include ranchers, farmers, artists, and religious lay persons. In collaboration with their interviewees, writers will compose the interviews into stories of a creative nonfiction format.
The reason for our project this year is to connect writers with the diverse population that resides in the Red River Valley Region, while offering a local, artistic experience for the entire community. The proceeds from books sold will be donated to a local environmental organization.
