Voices of the Valley: Edition 3 is seeking writers who would like to have the opportunity to interview a resident of North Dakota who exemplifies diverse and interesting relationships with the land. Some examples of residents already interviewed include ranchers, farmers, artists, and religious lay persons.
Writers who are interested will write their interviews in a creative nonfiction format and will need to be approximately 2000 to 3000 words.
All well-developed stories that meet the project requirements will be included in a bound copy of Writing Stories: Voices of the Valley, 3rd edition. Three to four stories will receive a time slot at the University of North Dakota’s Writers Conference to have the work read aloud for an audience.
-Interviews should be completed by February 1st.
-Final Drafts should be completed by March 1st.
-Collection goes to print March 10th.
-Voices of the Valley reading is scheduled for Thursday, April 7th at 6:00 p.m. in the Memorial Union Ballroom.
*All work is subject to editing and review by the co-directors of this project. Only well-developed work that follows the guidelines will be included in the publication or considered for the reading.
